ABOUT US

Bard Aussies is a small hobby "kennel" located in southern New Hampshire, just a few miles over the Massachusetts state line. The name choice of Bard serves as a dual tribute to "The Bard", William Shakespeare, the greatest author of all time, as well as my number one dog, Othello.

I enjoying training and competing with my dogs in the following venues: Agility, Obedience, Rally, Herding, Conformation, and Lure Coursing. I believe that any dog can be trained to be great at one thing, but it takes a real combination of talent, skill, hard work and dedication to excel at multiple activities. My personal dogs have earned over 350 titles in all venues.

I am a member of the following clubs:

United States Australian Shepherd Association (USASA)

Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA)

Australian Shepherd Club of New England (ASCNE)

Wachusett Kennel Club (WKC)

Teamwork Agility Club of Central Massachusetts (TACCMA)

LEAP Agility Club of Central MA (LEAP)

First and foremost, my dogs are 100% family companions. I do not have an actual kennel. They all live in the house, sleep on the furniture, and several accompany me to work on a daily basis.

Litters are rare, carefully planned, and truly a special occasion. I breed only for myself when I am ready for another dog. The emphasis of my breeding program is, in the following order, health, temperament, breed conformation, work ethic. Without health, you essentially have nothing; without temperament, you have a dog you can't take outside of your house; without breed conformation, you have a dog who won't hold up physically for the long haul; and without work ethic, you don't have a true Australian Shepherd.

Parents have all appropriate health clearances available for the breed. Puppies are registered with both AKC and ASCA. They leave after a full health screening by a veterinarian, as well as having their eyes checked by a board-certified canine ophthalmologist. Our adult dogs are raised on a biologically appropriate raw diet, minimally vaccinated, and kept away from as many chemicals as possible. I expect the same level of care for all puppies.

It is my goal as a breeder to produce an extremely versatile dog who can excel in multiple disciplines. As someone who competes in all venues, I have noticed a distinct dichotomy present within the breed between working and show lines. It is my hope to be able to bridge that gap. I am looking forward to seeing what I can contribute to bettering this breed in all aspects within my lifetime!
